This screen has been hand-made from spruce wood and strong pressed pulp rice paper; horizontal matchsticks reinforce the rice paper panels. The rice paper allows diffused light while providing complete privacy. A hand-drawn rendition of two geishas has been printed on the paper. The screen was made in the Guangdong province of mainland China.The Story Behind the Product This factory is located in the Guangdong region of mainland China. The father is the main person in charge and employs many family members. Day to day operations are run by an aunt while the son is being groomed to take over once his father retires - all of this family greatly adds to the quality and productivity of this factory. Over 300 skilled and non-skilled craftsman work together, passing knowledge and craftsmanship from generation to generation. The working conditions of this group are excellent.
